| ScourgeChiropmon evolves for the first time in Digimon Beatbreak episode 30. |
In the new season of Digimon Beatbreak, we get what I consider a feat worthy of being calculated, performed by a Perfect-level Digimon. ScourgeChiropmon fires one of its missiles, causing a massive explosion powerful enough to dwarf a Shanri-la Egg.
But that is not all. Its official profile provides a key piece of information that allows us to estimate the destructive power of our jet-powered bat Digimon:
“ScourgeChiropmon can then use its most devastating offensive maneuver, Despair Blast, which launches the guided missiles suspended beneath the wings. These missiles are thermobaric explosives, meaning that a wide area around the target will also be caught in the blast.”
With this information, we can now move on to estimating the destructive yield of ScourgeChiropmon's Despair Blast.

- Helicopter: 340 px = 14 m
- Hexagonal structure: 555 px ≈ 22 m

- Hexagonal structure: 555 px ≈ 22 m
- Shanri-la Egg height: 448 px ≈ 317 m
- Shanri-la Egg width: 300 px ≈ 212 m
With the Shanri-la Egg established at approximately 212 meters in width, we can then scale the explosion itself:

- Shanri-la Egg width: 625 px = 212 m
- Explosion diameter: 1012 px ≈ 343 m
Therefore, the estimated radius of the explosion is approximately:
R = 343 / 2 = 171.5 m
With the diameter of the explosion established, we can apply the Sedov–Taylor scaling law, the same method used in previous calculations to estimate the energy released by large explosions.
For this calculation:
R: shock-wave radius = 171.5 mT: estimated time of the explosion
According to ScourgeChiropmon's official profile, Despair Blast uses thermobaric explosives. Thermobaric weapons can produce extremely rapid blast propagation, with reported velocities on the order of several kilometers per second. Using 5,000 m/s as a reasonable midpoint for this estimate, a 171.5-meter shock radius would be reached in approximately:
T = 171.5 / 5000 ≈ 0.0343 s
For simplicity, we can round this to 0.03 seconds.
Now we can apply the Sedov–Taylor equation:
E = (1.2 × R⁵) / T²
E = (1.2 × 171.5⁵) / (0.03)²
E ≈ 1.97 × 10¹⁴ joules
Converting this into TNT equivalent:
E ≈ 47.2 kilotons of TNT
This places ScourgeChiropmon's Despair Blast in the tens-of-kilotons range, comparable in energy yield to a nuclear-scale explosion.
Interestingly, this is consistent with a pattern we have already observed among several Perfect-level Digimon. SkullGreymon, MegaKabuterimon, and WereGarurumon have previously produced estimates within a similar range, suggesting that destructive feats reaching the two-digit kiloton range are not unprecedented among high-level Perfect Digimon.
